Which stocks are trading at the biggest premium to their target price?

[ad_1]

Target prices usually relate to a 12-month timeframe. Here are 20 stocks reckoned by brokers to drift back by at least 9% over the next year.

Last week we had a look at the stocks that are trading at the largest discount to broker target prices.

It seemed to prove popular so here is a list of the (ostensibly) most overvalued stocks listed in London, according to brokers’ price targets.

As before, we restricted our search to those companies that are followed by at least three brokers.

It’s worth bearing in mind that even research analysts can fall behind on their workload and the market tends to adjust the share price of a stock on bad news a lot more swiftly than the typical research analyst will adjust his or her target price.

The same thing usually applies for good news. For example, one of the stocks in the list, (), recently accepted a 513p per share takeover bid from Tencent, an offer that was pitched 43% above the prevailing share price. The consensus target price (i.e. the median forecast of the 12 brokers that follow it) for Sumo is 434p, suggesting that the analysts have not updated their forecasts or do not see the point given the company is going to be taken over anyway.

So, without further ado, below is the list of 20 stocks on the London Stock Exchange that are trading at the largest premium to the consensus target price.
