Ukrainians Suffer Gasoline Shortages After Russian Strikes on Fuel Infrastructure

DIDOVYCHI, Ukraine—About two dozen civilians were evacuated Saturday from the besieged steel plant in Mariupol, while elsewhere Ukrainians faced fuel shortages and rising prices following recent Russian missile strikes on oil refineries and storage depots in the country.

On Saturday afternoon, the Mariupol city council announced plans for an evacuation of residents from the occupied city, though it didn’t confirm whether it had gone ahead. Russian state media reported on Saturday that a group of 25 civilians including six children, were evacuated from the Azovstal plant, where Ukrainian forces and civilians have been holed up for weeks.
