Old Ironsides has new owners. Here’s the goodbye party
A popular family-owned nightclub, bar and restaurant is changing hands after 88 years in business. Old Ironsides will soon have new owners, the bar announced on social media on Wednesday. The Bordisso/Kenlos family is officially “sailing off into the sunset” and handing over the business to Bret Bair, Eric Rushing and Anthony Paganelli.The bar said they have known the new owners for years and “wholeheartedly believe they will continue to honor Old I’s legacy while breathing new life into the bones of this old ship as it continues its ride for decades to come.”The Bordisso/Kanelos family will be in the bar one last time on Friday. The goodbye party is from 6 to 8 p.m. The bar will be open for its final show before the sale transfer goes through on Saturday, according to its announcement. The bar thanked both its customers and employees for all 88 years in business. “A huge thank you to our many loyal customers – including all the bands, comedians and poets who have graced our stage – for your many years of friendship, laughs, fun and entertainment,” the restaurant said on social media. “To our countless employees who’ve kept this place running so long – we are eternally grateful for your loyalty, camaraderie and for making our customers feel like family.”The bar is located on the corner of 10th and S streets and has been open since 1934. “Until we meet again, rock on, Sacramento. You’ll always have our hearts.”
