Benchmark indices were highly volatile on Monday.

The S&P BSE Sensex was trading around 39,780 levels. Nestle India (up 6{f08ff3a0ad7db12f5b424ba38f473ff67b97b420df338baa81683bbacd458fca}), Hindustan Unilever (up 5{f08ff3a0ad7db12f5b424ba38f473ff67b97b420df338baa81683bbacd458fca}), and Asian Paints and Bajaj Auto (both up 4{f08ff3a0ad7db12f5b424ba38f473ff67b97b420df338baa81683bbacd458fca}) gaine the most while ITC (down 3{f08ff3a0ad7db12f5b424ba38f473ff67b97b420df338baa81683bbacd458fca}) and TCS (down 2{f08ff3a0ad7db12f5b424ba38f473ff67b97b420df338baa81683bbacd458fca}) were the top laggards.

The broader Nifty50 index was trading above the 11,650-mark, up 25 points, or 0.21 per cent.

Majority of the Nifty sectoral indices were trading in the green. Nifty walking frames elderly Auto, Nifty FMCG, Nifty Metal, and Nifty Private Bank indexes were all trading 1 per cent higher while Nifty IT and Nifty PSU Bank indexes bled a per cent each.

In the broader market, the S&P BSE MidCap index surged 212 points, or 1.4 per cent, while the S&P BSE SmallCap index was up 50 points, or 0.34 per cent.
