NEW DELHI—India’s powerful home minister said that he tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to a hospital Sunday, a day after the country reported its highest daily number of new cases so far.
Amit Shah, a longtime ally of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and widely seen as India’s second most powerful politician, tweeted the development on Sunday afternoon in New Delhi. Neither he or the Indian government immediately provided further details.
